I forgot to blog for the past two months ramblings.
July 9, 2010 at 11:26 am | Posted in miscellaneous, we all like music | 2 CommentsI didn’t mean to unceremoniously abandon this blog but I guess I have, lately. For a long while writing some stuff here was a much needed outlet and recently felt a bit more like a chore to be completed. My new job is busy and the days are full, and at night I often don’t feel like sitting in front of my computer. My computer has also been operating at a speed 50 times slower than my patience level can tolerate. It’s much faster to just read other people’s blogs on my iphone and call it a day. I’ve actually been enjoying reading my twitter feed more than blogs lately and blogging has felt a bit more…uninteresting to me. To be honest. But, almost no one I know actually uses twitter, so I enjoy reading it but don’t really enjoy writing on it because I’m not really writing to anyone. The amazing thing is how many of you still seem to be consistently stopping by here every day even though I haven’t been writing anything, which makes me feel guilty, and so here I am.
A lot of things have happened during the last couple months, as well as not much at all. Just regular life things I guess. We had our one year wedding anniversary and celebrated it by spending a weekend away in Newport. Not a big journey but it hardly mattered where we went. The point is that we went. It was nice to have a weekend away and explore someplace together. My reflection on our first year of marriage: It flew by. It was happy.
I’m kind of energized with work and enjoying working quite a bit right now. Why would you want to hear anything about that?
This is my new niece Rigby:
Making a good attempt to upstage my sister Maddie for the title of Cutest Tongue on Earth.
We’re just about finished with our final big home renovation, our upstairs bath. I won’t bore you with details about fixing up our bathroom, but it was ugly before and delightful now so that was a nice house accomplishment. Now I’m turning my attention to our bare walls and windows. It’s decoration time.
I’ve recovered from the 2010 Poison Ivy Incident thanks to a little magical pill they call prednisone. Had I known the horror and agony that poison ivy would be, I would have run to the doctor’s office on day one and screamed “GIVE ME THE PILLS” until they either gave them to me or had me arrested. Instead I figured, how bad can it be, bought some calamine and figured I would wait it out. Turns out how bad it can be is REALLY REALLY &*@%ing bad. I actively sought out other people who had had poison ivy, because those who haven’t had it can never understand. But those pills were astounding and I might name my first born son Prednisone, Pred for short.
We just spent a lovely weekend in NJ to celebrate the fourth of July with family and I guess I’m trying to focus on enjoying the summer which is going by quickly and I haven’t been paying enough attention. Our fourth of July weekend in the sun by the pool has made me pay attention. It’s hot as hell here but I won’t complain because I prefer the summer to the winter always and absolutely. I like fans blowing on me and bare feet and tank tops and sunshine and tomato plants and ice water and driving my car without worrying about dying. And I like that Mad Men starts soon. I know that other parts of the country have weather like this in the summer all the time, but they have to understand that we aren’t as well equipped for it. MOST OF US DON’T HAVE CENTRAL AIR.
I’ve gotten a bunch of new music lately and have been enjoying it lots. So I’m posting a few of my favorites.
Remember this name: Lissie. Her album is out in the US soon. I love this little song. Not sure where she found my old glasses from when I was eight though.
I’ve been listening a lot to Fyfe Dangerfield and his band the Guillemots. Not new, but new to me. I love him. I feel like his voice is giving me a backrub and playing with my hair. I couldn’t find it but I recommend the song “Let’s Start Again.”
This is an old song from the 90s and I think it was on the radio but not a big hit, but I loved it. This band is extremely forgotten and not even on itunes, but my brother was making a 90s mix and I remembered this song and I remembered that it’s awesome and summery. M. and I have been listening to it a lot.

It’s funny, because the tone of the blog is really different.
You just let that guy give you back rubs and play with your hair?! How does that transpire exactly, is M. on the couch next to you pretending not to notice (or waiting his turn?)
It’s weird that that 90′s song seems so vivid, like I just heard it a few days ago.
I did hear it a few days ago on M.s heavily Medium influenced Ipod.
